candles are just like us, they need a little love too!

the first burn is the most important: wax has memory, so the first burn is the most important and will set the course for the life of the candle. be sure to melt the entire top layer of wax on the first burn. this can take over an hour, so don’t be too hasty to light it, even though we know that’s difficult. this will avoid issues like tunneling in the future.

trim them wicks: keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4” on both cotton & wood wicks (wood wicks can stand to be even shorter around 1/8” for a bigger flame). this should be done before each time re-lighting. you want to remove any "mushroom" on the end and make sure they are standing straight up and down.

reusing your jar: your jars can be reused to hold trinkets, flowers, candy, or anything you want! simply pour hot water into the jar and let it sit for 30 minutes. this will cause the wax to rise to the top and can be broken apart and thrown away. then clean out with soapy water. (be careful when cleaning over the sink, you never want to allow wax down the drain.)
